If It Walks Like a Duck...

“You are my student. You do not school me. You should shut the fuck up and listen.” – Jeff Divine
Narcissist – a person who has an excessive interest in or admiration of themselves.
I sometimes think that pop culture exaggerates ideas and certain phrases as they gain attention. I’ve often shared this idea when I’m speaking with people about the differences of being down for a few days and clinical depression. So many people want to claim they are “depressed” when its rained for a couple of days or they weren’t able to get the outfit they wanted. When in fact they were just down…bummed out that things weren’t going their way… Clinical depression is a whole other beast. It’s symptoms aren’t set in stone for each person but it can certainly be characterized by lack of interest and lack of motivation…even when things are going your way.
It's the same with using “narcissist.” That word seems to have caught the air ways a good few years ago. Everyone’s husband or boyfriend who had ego issues were suddenly being labeled as a narcissist…and that has continued it seems.
Jeff Divine (formerly, Jeff Ayan) has certainly been accused of being a narcissist. These most recent months have brought a lot of speculation and accusations against his church? Movement? Way of life? Honestly, I’m not sure how to label Twin Flames Universe when I’m not directly calling it what it is…a cult. His personality, teachings, and even his physical appearance has evolved during his time as the leader of this cult. And, truly, that’s very typical of what you see happening in the evolution of practices such as this. What truly has taken form, in my opinion, is the blatant changes of what can please more people but still stay close enough to its original mission, to have access to the most monetary gain and emotional/mental control.
Twin Flames Universe defines this. Later, I’m going to point our the most obvious theoretical changes (within their practice) and speak on how they contradict their teachings. But for now, I just wanted to point out the most obvious and possibly the most dangerous characteristic of Jeff’s narcissistic tendencies/traits.
Narcissism is abuse. Is it more complex than just simply labeling it as one word? Sure. But it ultimately filters back to a form of abuse against someone. At its core is manipulation. And when the manipulation begins to show it’s flaws the breaking down of a person’s mental and emotional wellbeing will allow someone to gain a firm hold on your dependency for validation. This is even more solidified within Twin Flames Universe with the constant push of the “Mirror Exercise” … Basically, you are what’s wrong. (Is your Twin Flame being resistant? Why are YOU being resistant to yourself.)
So, what happens if you still push against an individual with narcissistic tendencies? They exert control with anger. It would probably sound something like this, “You are my student. You do not school me. You should shut the fuck up and listen.” – Jeff Divine. And though I’m certainly not qualified to give diagnoses, I will point out a very old and wise saying... “If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck. It probably is a duck.”
